The garden needed a proper patio — not just a functional one, but one that felt considered. The shape needed to be L-shaped to make the most of the available space without eating into the grass area disproportionately, so I spent time working through the measurements before laying a single brick.

Reclaimed Victorian bricks were the original plan. After pricing them up, I switched to affordable brick blocks from B&Q that gave a similar warm, traditional look at a fraction of the cost. The time saved on sourcing went into the laying instead.

Getting the proportions right was what mattered most. The finished patio sits in balance with the lawn, the decking and the rest of the garden — which is exactly what was needed.
