With two young daughters and a garden full of ongoing building work, it felt important to give them a space that was entirely theirs.

After buying and assembling a playhouse, I built out a dedicated garden children's zone around it — a fenced section with its own area of decking, sized and designed for small people rather than adults with power tools. A planting border runs along one edge, giving them somewhere to grow things and take ownership of a corner of the garden.

It is one of the projects I am most pleased with. Not because it was technically complex, but because it gets used every single day.
